Saline High School Art Students Take Top Honors

Each year K-12 art teachers across the state enter up to five of their student's work in the MAEA (Michigan Art Education Association) regional art shows. Student's works are juried at the local or regional level. Works are chosen at the regional level to be sent on to the state level for another adjudication process. This year over 300 works of art were sent to the state level for adjudication. Pieces are chosen at the state level as the Top 100 in the state, Top 18 and/or Governor's Traveling Exhibit.

Saline has several high school students whose works were chosen as Top 100, Top 18 and Governor's Traveling Show. They will be honored and their works will be on display at the Michigan Youth Arts Festival, May 8-10th at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

The following Saline high school student's works were selected as Top 100, seniors Amanda Jones, Megan Johnson and junior Neil Zemba. The following were selected as Top 18, seniors John Wright, Joey Caruana, Christie Westmass and Laurel Twist. Laurel's work will also be included in the Governor's Traveling Show which is a show of thirty paintings that travel around the state to different venues. These students and their teachers Cyndi Koppelman and Janet Hughes will be honored at a luncheon at the Michigan Youth Arts Festival.
