Kindergarten students attend Media class twice a week and Young 5 students attend once a week for 36 minutes. Kindergarten Curriculum includes fiction/nonfiction comparison, nonfiction classification areas, author studies, and technology introduction with KidPix and author sites on the Internet. Kindergarten students may check out 1 item per week. Young 5 Curriculum includes fiction/nonfiction comparison, storytelling, and technology introduction with various Internet sites geared toward preschoolers. Young 5 students may check out one item per week.
At the front of the media center, we have a "Cool Class" wall. Each time every student in a class returns their library book(s) on the appropriate checkout day, their class name will be placed on the Cool Class Wall.

The Houghton Media Center is open each day from 8:30-9:15 and 12:15-12:30 for book return and any other assistance that may be needed. If you have specific questions about materials that your child may have checked out, please call 429-8000, x3268, and leave a detailed message, including your name, your child's name, your child's teacher, and a phone number where you may be reached. This is the number for the circulation desk at Houghton, and someone will get back to you as soon as time permits.
