Government and Economic Systems

This unit requires students to take what they have observed regarding material wealth from our Culture Unit, and consider the role of government and economics in a nation's status. Students will be working in groups to create their own country and culture. The will need to choose both a government and economic system that can work together, plan for what natural resources their nation would have (based on their location), and prepare for a Global Trading Session during which they will buy and sell products between their countries.

To participate in the Global Trading Session, countries must have completed their presentations by March 3rd, and all members must have a passing grade on the Government and Economics Quizes that will be given throughout the unit.

This year's Global Trading Session will take place on Thursday, March 4th. All items to be traded must be here on or before that date, or their country will become take on an underdeveloped status. I will let them purchase goods with a limited amount of global currency, but they will be at a big disadvantage as they will not be able to bring in any profits from the sale of their own goods. Products must be chosen carefully from the list provided, or approved by me before trading begins. Any food items must be pre-packaged.
