Woodwind Class Music Supplies

5th & 6th Grade Clarinets & Saxophones
Saxophone and clarinet reeds are a crucial part of playing a woodwind instrument. Quality and strength of reeds play a great part in a student's success. Reeds frequently crack or chip and need to be replaced. Storage cases are recommended to help keep reeds in good working condition for a longer period of time. Students are expected to have a minimum of 3 working reeds at all times.
Saline schools do not sell reeds; therefore, the mail order company listed below is a reputable company with reasonable prices. Local music stores also carry these recommended brands of reeds. Mail order is generally less expensive than retail. The recommended reeds are sold in boxes of 10 reeds. Purchasing 2-3 boxes at once will supply most students for the school year as well as save money. My recommendations for 5th and 6th grade supplies are as follows:
Van Doren Bb Clarinet Reeds
OR
Van Doren ALTO Saxophone Reeds
Strength: 2 1/2
(5th Grade Clarinets should use Strength 2)
(Navy Blue Box)
Approx. $17 per box of 10 reeds
Van Doren reed holder (specify for alto sax or clarinet)
